Farmer’s Wife Quilting

So I bit the bullet and signed up to build a Farmer’s Wife Quilt. There is quite a story behind the quilt, quoting Amazon, “In 1922, The Farmer’s Wife magazine posed this question to their readers: “If you had a daughter of marriageable age, would you, in light of your own experience, have her marry a farmer?” The magazine at that time had 750,000 subscribers, and received over 7,000 letters.” The Farmer’s Wife quilt has 111 blocks inspired by these ladies.

YIPES, 111 BLOCKS! and those are six inch blocks!

Here is miniature pic of the quilt from the author’s blog.

Farmers Wife QuiltWhen I find a larger version, I will add it.

The book is on its way, I am purchasing fabric and searching my stash for suitable fabrics and I am raring to go. Except the group does not start until August 1. We are to build two blocks a week and hopefully will get the quilt done in a year. For myself, that is entirely too long, so I am planning perhaps to make more than two a week. The group is going to start with block one and go straight through. So, I will do extras starting at the last block and go up. Then sooner or later, we will meet in the middle.

Here is where I will post recent photos of my blocks and will keep this up to date (hopefully) of the number of blocks completed and how many to go.
