New Embroidery project/class

I really tried to keep this simple. Really!

It was to be an apron with some embroidery on it. But well, as I started making the apron after digitizing the embroider work and stitching that part out, I just could not stop. At first the embroidery piece was to be the bib. Then, it was just to have a straight skirt, no ruffle. Well, the embroidery piece just needed more and a straight skirt was so boring. AND I had this cool fabric but wanted to do it justice.

So, it ended up with two layers of skirt, two ruffles, one on each layer. Two layers are on the bib, the embroidery piece that was backed and then the bib it was sewn to. BUT you don’t have to make this that way – you could just sew it with one skirt and no ruffle, or one skirt and two ruffles, or maybe one skirt and one ruffle. You could just make the bib out of the embroidery piece and not worry about two pieces to the bib. But, of course, it will look cuter if you do the whole thing. LOL

Here are the pics. As you can see, it really needed it ALL! and OH, I also made another embroidery design for an alternate. Personally, I like the second one better, but thought the first one would go over better.

DigiScrapStation is FIVE!

Its hard to believe it has been five years since I started the store. We started out with about ten designers and then grew. Sometimes we had as many as thirty three designers. It has been a real roller coaster for sure.

We opened on May 15 which happens to be Chocolate Chip Day. So our bash is going to be a little bit about chocolate as well.

So, we are celebrating with a blog hop and a store shop and a forum search. Sixteen clues will lead you to where you need to go. Each clue indicates where a link may be found for goodies. There will be new kits in the store as well using the same color scheme as our goodies – so it all can be added up to one huge awesome kit!

My part of this celebration is a very small mini-kit. It has three papers and three elements, a rose, a tag and a chocolate bar that can be used for page title or decoration. To get this little mini kit, just click the download button.

Here is the preview:

We got a new Look at DSS! And a new collab!

Have you seen our store lately? We felt it was time for a change so I created a new banner and look for us. Here is the banner, but of course it looks much better where it belongs in the store. Other graphics in  the store were also changed to go along with our new look.

store banner

Another biggie for us it the new categories and type of products we are adding to our store. We have always had some printables and mixed media, but now we are going to go big time into this area. AND our awesome Cynthia Powell is making some tutorials for us in video format as well. Check her out at her blog: http://cynthiapowelldesigns.blogspot.com/

We really have some talented ladies there. Twelve of our designers collaborated on a new gift for you all. It is called Flowers in the Wind and has over 2G of goodies. It is yours free with a $10 purchase in the store. I was very impressed with the quality of their work when I put the previews together. Here is one of the previews. This kit is so huge, it took FOUR previews to do it justice.

So what are you waiting for?Why are you not shopping right now? OH I know you need more. Well, for right now, the outgoing collab is also still available and will be added to your cart as well for the same $10 purchase. For some reason I did not turn off that gift yet. So that means for $10, you will get both collabs.

preview of Flowers in the Wind

For those of you who want to wait and only have $5 to spend we also have a gift. The two printables that are part of the big collab will be given free for a $5 purchase total. This includes a card and envelope as well as a pillow box print out. Instructions are included on how to make these with the files given. Don’t they look gorgeous?

sorry these are no longer available

So many goodies to tempt you, it might just be hard to limit your purchases to $5 or $10. But never fear will will always be there for you to return.

Digiscrapstation is FOUR Years Old! Help us Celebrate

Sometimes it feels like it has been much longer than four years and other times it seems like it was just yesterday that I started the store. What a trip! and it still is not over yet. Some of the designers who helped me open the store are still with us and it feels like I have known them forever. We have a little yahoo group to post to and share ideas and keep up to date with what is going on. Sometimes we share personal stuff, life’s triumphs and tragedies. Sometimes we just listen/read about what others are going through and cheer them on from the sidelines. But, we are there for each other whatever happens, even if all we can offer is prayers and positive thoughts.

To celebrate this event we are having a blog train. For those who don’t know what a blog train is, it is a list of blogs for readers to go through and pick up freebies on your travels from one blog to the next. Our freebies that we are offering are commercial use birthday items. Here is the list of blogs to visit to download commercial use birthday themed items.

COLD! a freebie and other stuff

So we can say winter is really here. When it got so cold early in December we just shook our heads and said WOW such a cold snap, and so early too! But, now it is no longer cold snaps, but winter itself. I truly believe this winter is colder and has less warm days than the past five winters. If only it would bring rain and the wet stuff as well. At least the prickly pear cactus is being pruned back by the freezes. That has not happened in several winters and they were beginning to take over the pastures.

It did not help that our water was out just before Christmas–that was a joy believe me. NO hot water until the end of Christmas day. Hubby spent all of Christmas day getting it back on line. Then, earlier this week we lost electricity. There had been ice on the trees and it was not melting off when the sun came up and it was more than the power lines could handle. Of course, a little rain is more than the power lines around here can handle. Just another joy of living out in the country.

Happy New Year and My Divine Digi Deal!

Happy New Year!! Did you all make lots of resolutions? I guess I am going to have to knuckle down and figure out what I am going to do this year about my weight and physical condition. I WAS going to have surgery this month for the acid reflux, but that has been canceled. Hubby does not feel it is for me. But, since I am not going to have this surgery (which the docs said would cause me to loose about 15- 20 pounds) I am going to have to figure out a different way to control my acid reflux and to loose some weight. Sigh, I guess it is going to take some work.

Another area I need to get some improvement in is the house organization. I just looked in my closet and realized that I am only using a fraction of the space in there wisely. The rest of the closet is stuffed with clothes and things that we will never use again. Then, there are the things in the other closets of the house that need to be organized and things in the cabinets under the sink and things in the buffet in the living room, things in the shelves in the bedroom —-the list goes on! It doesn’t help that hubby has issues with throwing stuff away. He just does not believe in it. I have to wait til he is out of town sometimes to do a good clean out.

So, did you all make some resolutions?

Check it out, my newest kit, Whispers of the Forest, is the Divine Digi Deal this week. This means you can get the kit for $2.00!

This is the kit I showed a preview of a week or so ago. It has a fairy, a unicorn and much more. With 23 papers the papers alone are worth the $2. Here is a preview of four of my favorite papers in the kit. But, it also has a bunch of regular papers that are not so hard to use.

Next week I will be posting a challenge in the forum at Divine Digital and the participation gift will be an add on to this kit. Just a tip about this add on, it will have another fairy in it.

Really Hopping

Things are really hopping lately and I have so much to keep track of!

Update on Missie: Missie is at home but not “awake”. You can read the latest on her blog as her husband and son are posting. The url is: http://mdtdesigns.blogspot.com/

We are going to create a collaboration kit in honor of Missie and to honor our loved ones that have passed. Many of us have lost loved ones recently and it just seems right to do this. If you wish to contribute to this endeavor, you can find more information at: http://scrappymouse.com/iwillalwaysloveyou/info.pdf

On a different note. The store is handing out free ornaments every day of December and you really need to get on track and get you some of these gorgeous ornaments. Go to the DigiScrapStation blog at: http://digiscrapstation.com/blog/ The previous day’s ornaments are still up so its not too late to get them.

Kathy, of Kathy’s Scraps has been organizing this and she is doing an awesome job. There are some ornaments that are hybrid and some that are only digital–but hey, just download them all! Each day she gives you a clue as to where you will find the ornament of the day.

New products–well not quite so new. I really like how the penguins came out. There is a mini kit named, Its Here, a Figmenst Add On, a Christmas Ornament Photoshop Action and a Penguin Photoshop Action. You can get them at DigiScrapStation as well as at Divine Digital. The links to these stores are above in the header of the blog.

Come chat with me tonight!

Yep, I am on at Divine Digital tonight. I am kinda nervous and wondering what is going to happen. But, please show up. I have a gift for everybody who does show up. Here is a preview of the chat gift:

Whatcha think of that bow?? I thought I would make a different kind and then to make it really different it is made iwth a transparent ribbon. This little mini kit will be an add on to my figments kit in a couple of weeks, but if you come to the chat you will get it for free. The chat is at Divine Digital at 10 PM Eastern Time–that will be 9:00 my time here, or something close to that.

At the chat I will be presenting a challenge with a gift for all participants–here is that gift:

Notice how one is geared more to girls and the other to boys? I really did not do that on purpose, but like how it came out. The castle in this challenge gift is different from the one in the main kit – it does not have as many levels on it and I think I like it better.

The challenge is just to complete a layout using the figments kit – I would love to see it in action. Today is the last day you can pick up that kit at Divine Digital for just $2. After today it goes to its regular price of $6.

Hope to see you all at the chat!
